Shinichi Ito (Mapman) is living in Sapporo, Hokkaido,Japan. He moved to Hokkaido from the Kanto region (near Tokyo) in 2000, as soon as he had graduated from Japanese high school. Within four years, until he was diagnosed, Shinichi unknowingly missed several newspaper delivery routes. One day, Shinichi watched a program about ADHD on TV. He doubted his mistakes be linked to his ADHD conditions.

Shinichi was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in 2004, which was previously known as Asperger’s Syndrome. In 2006, he started his blog  “Aspe Times,” which focuses on providing information for individuals with Asperger’s. Shinichi was passionate about travelling by train in Japan. In his 20s, he visited Southen Kyusyu, Shikoku, and Nagano.

In 2007, while searching for a job, Shinichi decided to focus on the travel industry in Japan. He passed the examination for a Japanese Travel Agent License (The Domestic Travel Agency Supervisor, 国内旅行業務取扱管理者). However, every travel agency asked, “Do you have English skills?” This marked the beginning of a significant milestone in his English language journey. In 2008, Shinichi secured a position as a hotel reservation assistant.

In 2009, he shifted the focus of his blog theme from “Information for Asperger” to “Learning English”. He had an opportunity to enroll in ESL (English as a Second Language) school in Sapporo, taking foot in the door in his first steps. From 2008 to 2018, Shinchi engaged as an assistant in room reservations at a luxury hotel.

In 2013, Shinichi visited Canada for the first time. He couldn’t image Canada, but Shinichi had gradually told himself, “I can do it, going Canada”. He succeeds visit Toronto and Niagara Falls.

After retiring from the hotel, he learned web design and English skills. He migrated his blog from a free Japanese platform to WordPress. Between 2018 and 2022, Shinichi had been creating his original English essay using IELTS writing (Task 1, Task 2). Occasionally, he also wrote original articles, diaries, and book reviews. In May 2022, Shinichi changed his blog title from “Aspe Times” to “ASD IELTS.” In July, he released his first book from the blog on Kindle.

In March 2023, Shinichi began selling Paperback too on Amazon store. In October 2023, he finally an official diagnosis of ADHD as well.
