Q: In major mountain resorts, some companies operate ropeways for sightseeing. On the other hand, some ski resorts operate gondolas for skiers. Discuss both views and give your opinions. Write at least 250 words.

In major mountains, tourists can go to the top (or bottom) of the mountain by ropeways. On the other hand, skiers can go to the top of the ski slopes by circulating gondolas. I believe that these vehicles have several merits for visitors. This essay will explain the advantages of ropeways and gondolas.

On the one hand, there are two reasons that the ropeway is a good vehicle. First, the ropeway can carry a lot of passengers. Many tourists can climb the top of the mountain. As a result, the operated companies can get a lot of income in the short term. Second, some ropeways operate after the evening too. For example, Mt. Hakodate is one of the top three-night views in the world. This ropeway operates until approximately 9:00 p.m. For this reason, the tourism bureau can introduce ropeway as one of the city’s attractions.

On the other hand, there are several merits for gondolas too. First, most gondolas can adjust the frequency of services. To illustrate, a lot of skiers use a gondola to go to the top of the slope in winter. Most managed companies operate cabins by circulation. For these reasons, companies can adjust the number of cabins. Second, companies can work gondolas for tourists too. Most cabins can carry skiers at least four or five. As a result, they can see the scenery spreading under their eyes from gondolas in small groups.

To sum up, I agree that the ropeway and gondola have each merit. Overall, people can enjoy excellent views through both vehicles.
